Aug, 4th BESS Orientation Meeting

Orientation meetings ensure that you understand the basic ethical values of the Baltimore BDSM community. They also provide information about BESS and gives you an opportunity to ask any questions that you might have. The orientations are held at the same location as the BESS meetings and there is no need to reserve in advance. Just be sure to arrive promptly at 7:00pm and inform the BESS staff that you wish to attend an orientation.
Time: 7:00pm to 7:30pm.
Cost: Free of charge

Aug, 4th Topic: An Evening with CARAS - �State of the State of Kinky Research�
With: �Eric Graves
The state of research on alternative sexualities, issues in the field,how it affects the community, and how the community can get involved presented by Eric Graves of CARAS (Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities)
: CARAS is dedicated to the support and promotion of excellence in the study of alternative sexualities, and the dissemination of research results to the alternative sexuality communities, the public, and theresearch community.

Founded in 2005, the Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities (CARAS) is a national-level, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports research addressing understudied sexual communities, with a current focus on BDSM/leather/kink/fetish sexualities and consensual non-monogamous relationships such as polyamory. Employing a community-based research model, CARAS has assembled a network of academics, clinicians and respected members of these communities who will work directly with researchers to promote scientific and other forms of scholarly research.
Time: 7:30 to 9:00 pm.
Cost: $5 for Contributors and Reciprocal Groups, $10 for Non Contributors.
Welcome Meeting: 7pm. - Free of charge.

Aug, 18th Topic: Winning by Losing: The Transformative Power of Predicament Bondage
With: Professor Oni
What do you do when faced with a lose-lose situation? Some retreat and avoid it completely, afraid of failure. Others remember Franklin Roosevelt's quote, �We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.�

We all have fears which keep us from attaining our goals. Many people who identify as submissives or slaves fear failing to please so much that they limit their potential, and in doing so, really do fail to serve the true need of their Master: to guide them to a better place.

Using predicament bondage, couples can create scenarios which force the bottom to overcome fear of failure and accept the fact that losing the battle actually does win the war. This workshop combines lecture, demonstration and class discussion and might just be a hell of a lot of fun.
Professor Oni: Professor Oni is a Lifestyle Dominant, former university professor, Kinbaku artist and photographer. His work is recognized by leading experts in rope bondage as being both technically proficient and artistically unique.

He is a member of BESS, the Sarasota Society, the National Leather Association, Metro Vancouver Kink and The Vancouver DM Team.

Professor Oni is also the founder of Lifestyle Images, an ongoing series of photographic projects documenting the lives of those living authentically with discretion and respect.
