List of nominees:
Jonathan Krall is a founding member of both BESS and Black Rose, and a co-founder of DCSMA. He is a current BESS Director and a former Black Rose board-member. He has served NCSF as Deputy Executive Director and presently assists with the NCSF Law Enforcement Outreach Program. He is the proud recipient of the Black Rose Elder Award for 1999 and the Pantheon of Leather Mid-Atlantic Regional Award for 2000. He likes to get spanked.
Candidate Statement:
Because I do not actually live in Baltimore, or even in Maryland, I feel I should talk about why I am continuing to butt into the affairs of Baltimore.
First, I will personally benefit from a strengthened SM community in Baltimore: more events, more parties, more opportunities for kinky sex for me. As group leaders, I feel we should try to be honest with ourselves about why we do these things. I also feel that a strengthened SM community in Baltimore, combined with policies of openness and community-support, will result in a strengthened SM community in Washington DC.
I got into this, in part, because I have a background
in SM group organizing. I also got into it because folks
in Baltimore were interested in working to make BESS happen.
Things have worked out wonderfully so far, but I feel I
should keep at it until I feel the job is done.
Specifically, I would like to see the Team Handbooks
become fully realized and to see that versions of these
Handbooks are made available for other SM groups.
I am proud to be a part of BESS and feel that BESS has already
become an organization which other SM groups will wish to
emulate.
Disclosures:
At present, I am serving as Education co-chair for DCSMA (I attend occasional meetings, work on the web page and give occasional talks), lecturer in the NCSF Law Enforcement Outreach Program (occasional talks), Group Liaison for BR2001 (ending in November 2001). I sometimes assist my friend, Mistress Sibyl, with her seminars for Pro Dommes.
I'm also a member of Baltimore AT EASE, and have been a member of the Black Rose. I've been involved in the scene for 20 years.
I joined the BESS Planning Group to contribute to the local scene because the scene has been so important to me. I accepted the nomination to run again for the Board of Directors in order to continue contributing to the development of BESS. I believe we need a place in Baltimore where we can all gather and truly be ourselves.
